March 11, 2009 - - - Special Notice

It’s fantastic to see how everyone is exultant with the recent announcement regarding a show we all love, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye. However, I believe that a few reminders are in order, for this website. I consider myself extremely privileged that Mr. Gary Johnson and some others trust me enough to confide in me about certain news regarding the show, but it’s even better when they say that I can share those news with everyone!! Please remember that, to avoid the disappointment of unfounded rumors, I will post details here, only when I receive the confirmation and authorization to do so.

Of course, I understand that you want to share the good news! With so many fans all around the world, everybody wants to know if the show is coming back and what the future holds for our favorite characters. However, to avoid any misinformation, please quote the whole announcement (including the date), indicate clearly at the beginning of the post that the information comes from this website and include a direct link to http://convention.suethomasfbeye.net/. This should help prevent misunderstandings…

Thank you for your collaboration!!!

March 10, 2009

Hello again!

I received a message from Mr. Gary Johnson, about the imminent start of Sue Thomas F.B.Eye on Animal Planet... Isn't it great?!?

SUE THOMAS: F.B.EYE
Premiers Monday, April 6, 2009
on Animal Planet

“Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye”, inspired by the true story of the F.B.I’s first deaf surveillant and her hearing dog Levi, is coming to ANIMAL PLANET, beginning Monday, April 6, with a two-hour opener (8:00 – 10:00 p.m., ET/PT, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Central and Mountain. Thereafter, it will be shown in its regular time slot, Mondays at 9:00 ET/PT and 8:00 p.m. Central and Mountain.

Deanne Bray stars as a young deaf woman who, along with her hearing dog Levi, is starting her first job – with the F.B.I. – where Sue’s unique lip reading ability lands her in the bureau’s elite surveillance team. Suddenly Sue and Levi are “G-men,” caught up in more action than they ever bargained for. But what they lack in experience, they make up for in spirit and enthusiasm.

“This is a call to action for ‘Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye,’ fans” says co-creator Gary Johnson. “It’s a chance to enjoy your favorite ‘Sue Thomas’ episodes. And if the show does well, Animal Planet is interested in making new episodes. So we’d encourage fans to let them know you’re out there by telling them how much you enjoy the show.”

Once the show has started airing, let Animal Planet know that you love the show and that you are happy to watch ! You can contact them with the Viewer Relations's form. The process is a bit lengthy, but it will be worth it!

March 9, 2009

On February 20-22, 2009, the second edition of the Sue Thomas F.B.Eye Fan Convention took place in Toronto. Maybe some fans have lost interest, or maybe it was the economic situation, but our group was much smaller this year compared to the last time… So THANK YOU Alfred, Annie, Cath, David, Doris, Elaine, Élaine, Jim, Lindy, Maria, Peggy, Ricki and Sylvie!!!!! Yes, add me to this list and we have the names of everyone who attended the Convention. Small group indeed, but such fantastic people!!

On Friday night, we met at Tucker’s Marketplace for a simple get-together, to meet new friends or match a face to a name we’ve known for a while. It was the perfect setting to chat with each other, learn new signs and succumb to the temptation of a delectable dessert buffet table!

Saturday, the activities took place at the Four Points Toronto Airport. We started with a short video, the greetings Deanne, Enuka, Marc, Rick and Tara had filmed for us last time. We continued with some useless trivia (Did you know that the dot over the letter 'i' is called a tittle?) and a very imaginative game of Pictionary. In the afternoon, everyone could test their memory with questions about major facts and tiny details from the show. In the evening, we had booths with different information about the actors and the characters (did you know that one of Deanne Bray’s favourite movies is “The Sound of Music,” or that Tara’s character was originally meant to be a man?). During the auction, the well-known generosity of the fans helped us to raise $500!!! That is awesome!

Oh, I almost forgot… On Saturday afternoon, we had a chat with Gary Johnson, one of the creators of the show – we had a live video feed from his home in Los Angeles. He generously answered fans’ questions for almost 45 minutes, and we learned a lot about how the show was created, why it was filmed in Toronto, if the chemistry on the set was as good as the chemistry on the show, etc. We also received some privileged information – the show will be back in the US with reruns on Animal Planet very soon and they are working on having the show available on DVD. Will we ever see Jack and Sue as a couple? Probably not, but we might see the whole team again because there is a project in the air – a Sue Thomas movie with the original cast!! No date has been announced yet for this, but we’ll let you know when the information is available.

On Sunday, we hopped on a bus for a special guided tour. We started with the studios where the show was filmed, and then we visited the Deaf Culture Centre, where Anita Small gave us more details about one of the charity we support, the ASL Dictionary for Children. After a quick lunch at the Distillery District, we took a walk in the streets of Toronto to discover different locations that were used to film scenes from the show, such as the park where Jack brings Sue roller-skating in the first episode, and the façade of Sue’ and Lucy’s apartment.

This concluded a great weekend… Lots of fun and amazing new friends! And now, what is coming up? There will be an internet auction, just like we did last time, but prizes and details will be posted later on… As usual, stay tuned for more details…

Thank you everyone for your support!!!
